Nearby is the Historical and Ethnographic Museum of Svaneti, which houses paintings, icons, and artifacts from as far back as the 7th century. Local churches are also restoring their beautiful frescoes. Tours to Ushguli, widely known as the highest living village in Europe, and various churches and other sites and museums in the region can be organized.
